Typography - Emotions Through Positioning Size And Tone

Using three rectangles represent three emotions.

Friendly

Using a light tone makes the boxes look more approachable. Having the boxes small and in the middle makes them look less intimidating and neutral. They do look slightly like they are a 'gang' though and maybe a little intimidating.

Having the boxes low on the page makes them less intimidating than if they were up high. Making them all different tones makes them look less like a 'gang' and more varied.

Angry

Black and big. But doesn't quite work.

Filling up the page. Doesn't really work. Looks more 'organised'.

Having two bold, big boxes and one small lighter box helps the emphasise the contrast in emotion.

Precious

Light and rotated to look like a diamond. It is small and low showing its vulnerability.

Placing the boxes higher up makes them look less vulnerable and more powerful and precious.

Typography - Layout

Looking at how different type faces sit differently on a page with two columns with gutter width 4mm.

From top to bottom, left to right: Times New Roman 7.5pt, 8pt, 8.5pt, 9pt.
                                                                     Times New Roman Bold 7.5pt, 8pt, 8.5pt, 9pt.

From top to bottom, left to right: Arial 7.5pt, 8pt, 8.5pt, 9pt.
                                                                     Arial Bold 7.5pt, 8pt, 8.5pt, 9pt.

Trying too get the text to fit on the page. Add indents and delete line space... Still doesn't fit

Trying to get the text to fit on the page. Justify the text... Now it fits

Only justifying and keeping the line spaces doesn't fit either.

Justifying and deleting line spaces makes the text too small.

Deleting the line space and not justifying makes it too small.

Font size differences

Fonts that take up less space than Times New Roman in 8pt.

Typography - Leaflet Design

The design had to incorporate all of the text and images that we were given.

Gutter and margin width had to be taken into consideration because of the folds.

Type hierarchy enabled me to decide which information was most important and wanted to be viewed first.

Using a sans serif font made the text look more friendly and easier to read.

CD Packaging Design Sheets

I want the CD packaging to be minimalist and reflect the clean fresh start to a new year of fashion. The clean, minimalist style also reflects fashion magazine houses. For example:

The idea behind the stitching is to incorporate magazine paper with fashion textiles. Once the CD packaging is opened it can't be closed again. Like wax on an envelope you will know if it has been tampered with.

The font used is the same as is used throughout the title sequence, Europe Underground.

CD Packaging Experimentation

I want to keep the CD case simple and fresh looking. Using the typeface from my title sequence (europe underground) I wrote the bare minimal amount of information needed.

To incorporate the magazine sleek style with fashion itself the way I chose to fasten the case means that it can only be opened once and like an important letter sealed with wax you know if someone has tampered with it.

Black and white cotton uses the main colours of the project to keep it all fluent.
